Tesla CEO Elon Musk will have a discussion about Bitcoin with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey at The B Word event in July.
The two tech leaders agreed to participate in such a conversation on Twitter, but it wasn’t clear if Musk was serious, with his playful tone. A spokesperson for the event confirmed that the talk will actually take place.
It all started when Musk made a joke in response to one of Dorsey’s tweets in support of the event. Referring to the name of the event, “bicurious” Responding, Musk was invited to the event by Dorsey.
Musk’s proposal “For Bitcurious? Very well then, let’s do it” he agreed with a winking face emoji. The talk will bring together Dorsey, a die-hard Bitcoin advocate with a strong passion for the Lightning network, and Musk, who has a complex relationship with cryptocurrencies.
While Musk indirectly buys $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin through Tesla, he has been criticizing the environmental impact of the cryptocurrency as well as mocking his passionate community.
Unlike Dorsey, who only focuses on Bitcoin, Musk has a strong fondness for Dogecoin, a memecoin based on the Shiba Inu dog breed. During the Bitcoin Miami event earlier this month, the Tesla CEO tweeted a Linkin Park meme about finding someone else along with the word Bitcoin and a broken heart emoji. This caused the Bitcoin price to drop by more than $2,000.
The B Word event will take place online on July 21 and will also feature speakers including ARK Invest founder Cathie Wood, Blockstream CEO Adam Back, and Michael Morell, former deputy and deputy director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). .
