Canadian mining firm Hut 8 Mining has purchased $44 million worth of mining devices to double the hashrate.
Hut 8 Mining said in a press release today that it will purchase 11,090 new mining machines for $44 million, nearly doubling its hashrate by the end of the year.
The company recently raised $82 million in donations to increase its crypto mining capacity.
The machines are the MicroBT M30S, M30S+ and M31S models from Hong Kong-based SuperAcme Technology. The devices are expected to be delivered in October and fully deployed by December.
The extra capacity has been adjusted to make Hut 8’s hash rate 2.5 EH/s per second. Thus, Hut 8 mined 6.5 to 7.5 BTC per day, while this average was pulled to 14 to 16 BTC.
