Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the central bank to run tests with a blockchain-based cryptocurrency for two years, according to a The Phnom Penh Post report. Chinh also thinks that digital currencies are an inevitable trend.

This move, which is the subject of the news on July 4, represents part of the prime minister’s e-government development strategy. The country will also work on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality.

Last May, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance formed a research team to examine cryptocurrency regulations. On the other hand, the country is among the countries that completely ban Bitcoin payments.
