Sales in the second quarter amounted to $1.24 billion, slightly surpassing the first-quarter figure of $1.23 billion, Reuters reported, citing DappRadar data. This figure dwarfs the first half of 2020, with NFT sales of $13.7 million.

This increase represents the explosion in interest in NFTs over the past 12 months, fueled by significantly popular platforms such as NBA Top Shot.

The total sales figure also varies depending on which transactions are included. This figure from DappRadar contradicts NonFungible.com’s $1.3 billion calculation. No site has any data that needs to be added manually and can cause inequalities “off chain” does not track transactions.

It’s unclear whether NFT sales have peaked. Sales on the NFT platform OpenSea reached a record high of approximately $150 million in June.
